To Oakland with Love

I think I'm in love...with Oakland of all places! Seriously, the city has a bad reputation and during my visit downtown for the weekly Art Stroll on Saturday I saw the usual array of smashed car windows and homeless people. But there is so much more. There is a creative vibrancy there that really drew me in...especially the thriving Uptown neighborhood where you'll find quirky bars, an accordion store and a designer collective (with wine bar!), that made me crazy.

The stroll happens every Saturday from 1 - 5pm. Go check it out. You'll find me at the ping pong table at the pop-up beer garden!

Create More Wall Space

The challenge in my studio was wall space...I needed more of it without destroying the openness of the room. I knew I wanted mobile walls and called in some friends and family to help. After a few minutes of brainstorming we headed to the lumber store.

Initially,  we were planning to create an L shaped wall, but I decided it would have been too cumbersome. In the store we decided smaller individual walls would be more versatile. Using lightweight hollow doors, some brackets and casters we created three amazing rolling walls that double my wall space and can be reconfigured in the room or easily stored if i need more space.

Simple, clean & affordable design. I love it!

When Art and Fashion Collide

Fashion has always influenced my work. Usually it is one element that catches my eye - a subtle color or fabric pattern. On rare occasions I see a look that artfully combines color, design, graphics and style. The DVF fall line up at New York fashion week had it all. Glam Rock deliciousness. Check it out!
